RSS Feeders are awesome!! This is one of the more exciting finds for me. While I have seen these, I really hadn?t looked into how I might incorporate them into my life. But with so much information, and so little time to consume it all, it is wonderful to have a tool to help synthesize my many sources of news. Putting the RSS feed into my blog was ridiculously easy. In fact the hardest part was finding the proper URL to put in the box. I was disappointed to see that some of the sites I would?ve liked to add haven?t facilitated it yet, but I?m sure it is simply a matter of time. I tell my students that they have to read if they hope to get ahead in life. This is especially true in business. OK, so there is a bit of educational geekiness that is required to really enjoy some of the financial sites that I encourage students to read, but I think this may be the tool to help them. I have subscriptions to two newspapers (I?d say I read two a day, but lets face it, time is limited), and that doesn?t even count the web sites I regularly visit. Having a tool that will help me to quickly see if there is something that I want to read on one of my preferred sites can be really helpful. By putting the RSS feed on my blog page, I?ll be able to encourage students to go to one centralized spot where they might be motivated to jump to another site of value & interest. This is something that I have to figure out though, as I don?t want to have too many feeds into one spot. I might have to have a blog that is simply for me (Good Lord what is happening here??? I didn?t really see a need for a blog before this class, and now I?m looking at having one for class, and one for myself!).
